She is dedicated to
inspiring others to want to be different for a better existence. Her
untiring commitment to transforming lives through the use of Creative
Expression and the Arts, led to her acclaimed
Joy of Africa musical
symposium, a two time award winning event held in East Sussex, UK.
In 2006, Ombassa received
the prestigious Scarman Trust Award and National Community Champions
Award for her dedicated and tireless service to communities in the
UK.
Ombassa’s successes include
the development of empowerment organizations, musical productions and
events that provide recognition and enhancement of one’s own gifts.
Working with adults and
youth, she started the Natural Healers’ Network in 1993 in Atlanta,
GA, a group that has assisted the process of pioneering the health
movement in the Southeast. In 1995, she founded a children’s
organization called Akefa Global Village in an effort to reach out to
young people across demographics in the USA and the
UK.
A staple in the world empowerment community, Ombassa has provided
services for young people through Arts of
Empowerment in her own youth organization, Akefa Global Village and
other youth programs including: Jane Fonda’s teen pregnancy
program-GCAPP, National Children’s Charity, Black Minority and Ethnic
groups, Hastings Council Play in The Park, after school programs,
Josef’s House, Youth Development Service, and countless neighborhood
youth clubs in the
USA and the UK.
She
has a deep respect and admiration for
works of Imhotep, Gandhi, Jesus, Sojourner Truth and Martin Luther
King Jr. and her Dad, who continue to inspire her to date.
